Shazia was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in March 2025. She is now a pupil barrister at a leading multidisciplinary set of chambers in Central London, specialising in serious crime and regulatory matters.
Shazia is an accredited police station representative. She represents a broad spectrum of clients at the police station including youths and vulnerable individuals during police interviews, offering critical advice at the earliest stage of the criminal investigation.
Prior to pupillage, Shazia worked at SA Law Chambers Solicitors as a paralegal exclusively within the Criminal Law department. She has extensive experience in handling serious criminal matters including murder, fraud, serious sexual offences and drug cases. She is known for building good client relations and demonstrated a strong commitment to client care and case preparation.
Shazia has worked with a leading Kings Counsel at Grenfell Public Inquiry and has gained invaluable experience. In addition to her mini pupillages with a plethora of leading Kings Counsel and senior counsel, she has further gained insight into court procedure through marshalling a Recorder at Crown Courts. Cementing her interest in Criminal Law, Shazia has also undertaken internships with Amicus International and liaised with practitioners in America regarding death penalty cases.
Shazia read Law at University of Nottingham and gained an LLB (Hons). She went on to study Bar Vocational Studies Course at City, University of London and gained an LLM specialising in Advanced Criminal Practice, with a particular focus on Fraud and Economic Crime and Advanced Criminal Advocacy.
Shazia is fluent in Tamil and a proficient speaker in French. A keen mooter in University, Shazia has achieved many wins in mooting competitions. Shazia has a strong devotion towards charitable work and raising awareness for various causes. To this end, she has collaborated with WOHAA, a charity dedicated to raising funds towards educating children in Malawi and Chennai. Through her involvement, she has actively promoted the charity’s mission by delivering speeches including one at the House of Commons.
Shazia is a member of the Female Fraud Forum. She is also the UK Mini Hubs Co- Ordinator of the Girls Human Rights Hub, a non-profitable organisation.
