Shazia joined SA Law Chambers Solicitors as a paralegal working exclusively within the Criminal Law department. She has worked on numerous high profile and serious cases including but not limited to murder, fraud, serious sexual offences and drugs related cases. She regularly attends clients at office and prisons to obtain instructions and prepare their proofs, bail applications and briefs to counsel as appropriate. Building good client relations, Shazia demonstrates a strong commitment to client care and case preparation. Shazia also analyses complicated cell site data and meticulously distils this information into schedules. Shazia routinely undertakes cases requiring advance legal analysis.
Prior to SA Law Chambers Solicitors, Shazia has worked with a leading Kings Counsel at Grenfell Public Inquiry and has gained invaluable experience. In addition to her mini pupillages with a plethora of leading Kings Counsel and Senior Counsels, she has further gained insight into the court procedures by way of her marshalling a Crown Court Judge. Cementing her interest in Criminal Law, Shazia has also undertaken internships with Amicus International and liaised with practitioners in America regarding death penalty cases.
Currently, Shazia is undertaking her training to become an accredited police station representative. Shazia represents a broad spectrum of clients at the police station including youths and vulnerable individuals during police interviews, offering critical advice at the earliest stage of the criminal investigation.
Shazia read Law at University of Nottingham and gained an LLB (Hons). She went on to study Bar Vocational Studies Course at City, University of London and gained an LLM specialising in Advanced Criminal Practice, with a particular focus on Fraud and Economic Crime and Advanced Criminal Advocacy.
Shazia was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in March 2025 and is due to commence her pupillage later this year at a leading multidisciplinary set of chambers specialising in serious crime and regulatory matters based in Central London. Shazia is also a member of the Female Fraud Forum.
Shazia is fluent in Tamil and a proficient speaker in French, enabling her to engage with a diverse client base. A keen mooter in University, Shazia has achieved many wins in mooting competitions. Shazia is also active in raising funds for charities, having worked closely with WOHAA, a charity to educate children in Malawi and India. To this end, Shazia has organised fundraisers to educate numerous children and has spread awareness of the charity’s aims through giving speeches, notably in the House of Commons.
