Kent Cricketer Darren Stevens Cleared in Cricket Corruption Charges - Feb 2014

Following a three-week hearing in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Darren Stevens, the Kent Cricketer, has been cleared by the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Anti-Corruption Tribunal of all charges. Stevens had been charged in relation to offences at the 2013 BPL by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, the three-person tribunal led by the Supreme Court Judge, Mr. Justice Chowdhury, acquitted him of all charges.
Siddik Aboobaker stated that he 'was happy that the matter was now over and that Stevens could carry on with his playing career. He has had to carry this weight on his shoulders for a long time and this will now act as a relief to him and all his family'.

Operation Auron - Conspiracy to kidnap, falsely imprison and blackmail - Feb 2014

The defendant awaiting trial at the Central Criminal Court involves multiple defendants who are accused of luring the complainant to an address, where it is alleged that he was imprisoned and tortured. Phone calls were made to his family, demanding money for his release.

Historical Serious Sexual allegation against family member - Feb 2014

The defendant was charged with multiple counts of rape and indecent assault which involved historic incidents of sexual abuse against the complainant who was a family member.

Leave to Appeal granted against conviction for gang related Murder - Feb 2014

Ongoing appeal against conviction for gang related murder to be heard in full by the Court of Appeal following successful argument for leave to appeal overturning a single Judge’s decision.
